Shield Ranch Hiking Series
Step into a journey of wellness and exploration with Shield Ranch’s 2024 Hiking Series. Designed to support various interests, our four unique hiking experiences connect you with nature, foster new relationships, and enliven the senses. Nature walks may offer many benefits: improved mood, reduced stress, and recharged creativity, just to name a few! Join us for one hike or the entire series!

Cost: $14 per adult; $10 for youth under 18
1. Listen: Friday, Jan. 26; 1-4 pm
Begin your new year with a mindful experience. Our intentional listening walk along a 2-mile trail will guide you through protected ecosystems along Rocky Creek, allowing you to connect with the sounds of nature. Afterward, gather around a cozy fire to warm up and reflect.
2. Move: Fri., Feb. 23; 1-4 pm
Get ready to cover some ground and stay warm with a high-movement hike. We will walk a 4-mile trail with elevation change while enjoying the breathtaking views of Shield Ranch. This hike is an excellent way to boost your energy levels.
3. Observe: Fri., March 29; 1-4 pm.

Led by experienced naturalists, this hike invites you to meander along a 2-mile trail with some elevation change, observing the wonders of the spring bloom of flora and fauna along Rocky Creek and the oak savanna. Suitable for all ages, this educational experience will deepen your connection with the environment.
4. Wonder: Friday, April 26; 9:30-11:30 am and 1-4 pm
Ideal for young hikers and their caregivers, this wonder walk promises to ignite curiosity and spark the imagination. We will focus on using our senses and inquiry-based learning as we make observations in the natural world. Suitable for ages 4-9 years old and younger siblings are welcome.
