A prescribed burn is scheduled to take place at Shield Ranch Barton Creek near Crumley Ranch Road on Feb. 20, 2024.
Shield Ranch is conducting this prescribed burn in cooperation with The Nature Conservancy, personnel from local fire departments, and various natural resource agencies.
The prescribed burn is intended to reduce wildfire danger and improve ecosystem health by removing invading shrubs, consuming dead and downed vegetation, reducing the number of exotic species, and enhancing the health and diversity of the native plant community.
The prescribed burn will proceed only if conditions are favorable.
