Grant Lawrence

Grant Lawrence serves as the director of land stewardship, overseeing staff and operations at both Shield Ranch Barton Creek and Shield Ranch Camp Wood. In this role, he leads land management, conservation, and operational initiatives. His work blends supervisory leadership with wildlife and habitat management, infrastructure stewardship, coordination of natural resource partnerships, and administrative oversight to advance the mission of the Shield Land Stewardship Group.

From an early age, Grant felt a deep pull toward the outdoors, eagerly embracing every adventure it offered. He followed this passion academically, earning a Bachelor of Science in range and wildlife management from Abilene Christian University and a Master of Science in natural resource management from Sul Ross State University, where his thesis focused on feral pig poisons.

Grant’s career spans private ranches with extensive wildlife management programs and cow–calf operations. In the public sector, he completed several internships with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and gained additionalexperience in university research. In 2017, he was drawn to Shield Ranch by the owners’ conservation-focused approach and eco-centric mindset. Today, he finds great fulfillment in watching the land respond to the various landmanagement practices his team implements across the ranches.

Grant lives at Shield Ranch Barton Creek with his wife, Hailey, and their two sons, Wyatt and Brayden. When he’s not working alongside his loyal Labrador retriever, Pearl, he enjoys time with family, active involvement in wildlife conservation organizations, and planning his next outdoor adventure.
