Laurie Foss began working at Shield Ranch in 2013. She brings extensive administrative experience to its programs and senior staff including the complex and fast-paced operations of Camp El Ranchito. Her role at camp touches everything from vendor relations, ordering and tracking supplies, employee record keeping, and logistical support. Laurie also provides much-appreciated internal IT support across the organization.
Laurie grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, and lived in Huntsville, Alabama before landing in Austin. She has held a variety of administrative positions in health care, communications, engineering, and clean energy.
A passionate birder, Laurie has extensive experience leading birding tours at Shield Ranch Barton Creek, in and around Austin and Texas, and all the way to Central America and the Caribbean Islands. Whether she’s on the Ranch or at her desk in the office, Laurie’s sure to encourage novice birders and to keep an observant eye on the sky.
