Christy’s role includes creating opportunities for collaboration and serving as a spokesperson and liaison to neighbors, funders, non-profit partners, elected officials and agency personnel. She managed the recent Shield Ranch master planning process and is now responsible for the comprehensive fundraising campaign for the implementation of phase one of the master plan, the Campsite at Shield Ranch. She also manages an advocacy program that includes active support for land conservation, water quality and groundwater supply protection, and evolving regional issues relevant to the Ranch.
In 2004, Christy co-founded the Hill Country Alliance (HCA), a regional conservation nonprofit where she served as executive director through 2015. In this role, she worked closely with Bob Ayres on regional land and water conservation issues for ten years before joining the Shield Ranch team in 2016. She serves as vice-president of the board of directors for the Cibolo Nature Center and Farm in Boerne, TX and as chair of the governance committee of the board of directors for the Hill Country Science Mill in Johnson City, TX.
She is a graduate of Western Illinois University and completed Authentic Leadership certification at Naropa University in Boulder, CO in 2019. Christy is originally from Riverside, IL and now lives in Spicewood near the south shore of Lake Travis with her husband Marty and two sons. She loves to paddle her favorite rivers and lakes, hike, travel, and practice yoga.
